Traditional designs
Wedding rings were traditionally fashioned in 22 carat gold because of its purity and rich colour. Today most of our rings can be made for you in 9 carat, 14 carat, 18 carat and 22 carat gold. The higher caratage denotes the increased purity of the gold. They are all ‘hand-finished’ which gives them a superior look and a smoother feel.
Hand Carved
Highly skilled and experienced engravers are still using the ancient methods of embellishment to pattern our rings with traditional designs. Each intricate pattern is carved onto the ring by hand, creating an individual and creative look.
Diamond Cut
Diamond cut wedding rings are so-called because the patterns are cut into the ring using diamond tipped tooling. Every design can be cut to scale and therefore can be reproduced in a variety of widths. This affords you the choice of ‘his’ and ‘hers’ matching rings with differing widths if required. The process itself is not automated, as the individual cuts must be hand-controlled by a highly skilled diamond miller.
Hand made
These rings feature the more elaborate of fashioning by hand. They take longer from start to finish, but like all good things they are worth the wait. Because each commission will be individually hand made, your selected ring is guaranteed to be unique. Please allow at least 5 – 6 weeks from the time of order for all hand-made or diamond-set rings.
Diamond Set
We are committed to offering you choice, quality and value. Only diamonds that meet our fine quality standards will be selected for setting into your ring. Only full-cut diamonds are used, which allow reflected light to highlight the natural brilliance of the stone.
Platinum and Gold
There is a perfect partnership between gold and platinum. To truly appreciate their quality, we recommend that you actually hold them in your hand and experience this unique combination. Most of the other two colour designs in our collection can be ordered in gold and platinum.
Platinum is the most rare, most valuable and strongest of the white metals used in jewellery, making it a perfect and safer setting for diamonds.
The best-selling wedding rings are the traditional ones – plain court shape, stylish and simple. Popular widths are 3mm and 4mm. Matching sets are available for men and women. Often the names of the couple are engraved inside the rings. Two and three colour Russian wedding rings are more popular than they used to be as they can be worn as a dress ring as well as a wedding ring. Hand-made rings are available and are worth waiting for as each ring is guaranteed to be unique. Celtic rings are based on the authentic designs from the 4th century. They often have intertwining lines and a multitude of knots. Diamond set wedding rings were introduced in the 1970’s and are becoming increasingly popular in widths of 3mm and 4mm.
No matter what the choice of ring, it is still a symbol of love and the traditional way to seal the most sacred of pledges.
